In this post we go over the various types of gas tank plugs in a Subaru. Like most plugs, Subaru has changed the plug type for different features and availability. Below we have images as well as a description of which cars the plug is compatible with.
Gas Tank Plugs
This gas tank plug is for newer model Subarus. It plugs into the top of the fuel tank assembly.

This gas tank plug is for older model Subarus. It plugs into the top of the fuel tank assembly.

This plug is for the Fuel Sub Level Sensor. In older-style gas tanks, there are two level sensors, one in each saddle of the tank. The fuel level goes through the first sensor and then runs through the second sensor. The ECU takes the average of these two sensors to know the fuel level in the tank.
