Version means which version of the Subaru Impreza it is. V1 is the first Impreza built, V2 is the second generation, ETC. The Version number was mainly used in JDM Subaru models though they stopped labeling them as V1 or V4 after 2000. If you are importing a JDM engine and the importer calls it a V7, V8, V9, or V10 - make sure to figure out precisely which year of car the engine is coming from. Please take a look here for help determining which engine you have. Please take a look here.
NOTE: As of January 2023, we are longer wiring Version 1 through 6 engine swaps. Customers have had problems getting and keeping the swap running due to harness condition issues/availability, the lack of replacement parts, tuning options, and not passing smog. We highly suggest if you are looking for a swap engine, check out these options.
If you have a V5/6, this can be converted to a USDM 2.0 WRX. Please click here to see how to do this.
