You’ve added a surge tank to solve fuel starvation, but now you have to make the wiring work correctly. That is where this kit comes in.

Seamless Integration With Your Trunk-Mounted Surge Tank

The iWire EJ Platform Surge Tank Fuel Pump Controller Hardwire Kit is designed to simplify the wiring needed for a Subaru EJ platform with a trunk-mounted surge tank or fuel cell style fuel system.

Unlike a standard in-tank fuel pump hardwire kit, a surge tank setup uses the in-tank pump to fill the surge tank while the surge tank pump, or pumps, supply fuel to the engine. Because the job of each pump is different, the wiring needs to be different too.

Keep the ECU in Control

This kit is designed to keep the fuel pumps properly powered while retaining ECU and fuel pump controller control. That means the pumps are not forced to run any time the key is on.

By keeping the ECU in charge, the system can retain proper pump operation while also allowing the ECU to shut the pumps off when needed.

Multiple Pumps Without the Guesswork

For multiple pump surge tank setups, the primary surge tank pump is controlled with the in-tank pump. Additional surge tank pumps are typically activated by a manifold pressure switch so the extra pump only turns on when the engine needs the additional fuel volume.

Important Information

Our standard in-tank fuel pump hardwire kits cannot be modified to run a surge tank. This kit is built specifically for surge tank wiring, where the in-tank pump and surge tank pump have different jobs.

This kit requires the surge tank to be mounted in the trunk. If the surge tank is mounted in the front of the vehicle, this kit will not work.
