AVCS Bulkhead Install Tech Doc

Thank you for purchasing our AVCS Bulkhead Wiring Kit. This install guide gives you the information to wire this kit into your Subaru. If you purchased one of our competitors kits or are doing a DIY kit, this guide WILL NOT match up.

Please note our wiring products are covered by our Warranty. Splicing, cutting, or damage to the harness in any way will void this warranty. Please call us with any questions before cutting the harness.

Tools needed for install:

- Basic Pick Tool or Depinning Tool

- Razor Blade or Box Cutter

There are three basic steps to installing this kit: installing the ECU pins from both sections of wire, installing the pins into the passenger side engine plug, and installing the pins into the driver side engine plug.

ECU Pin Insertion Overview Section

To reveal the ECU first pull back the carpet in the passenger side footwell. Then unbolt the metal kickplate. You will then see the ECU. Gently remove the smallest center ECU plug. (see below for picture of exact plug)

1. Before the pins can be inserted, the lock tab must be released to allow the pin to be installed. To do this use a small pick and lift the tab on the underside of the ECU plug as shown in the diagram and picture below.

It will not come all the way out, just far enough to see open slots.

Install pins as shown below. Each pin will just slide into the housing once the lock tab is released.

Once all the pins are installed, push the locking tab back into place.

How to remove a pin if installed in the incorrect location

1. Use a small pick tool (like the one pictured below) to gently lift the locking tab on the terminal for it to slide out of the back of the housing. If it does not come out easily, the tab is not lifted. Do not pull hard on the wire.

The next steps of this guide will be about wiring the plugs that are in the engine bay. You will need to route the AVCS wiring into the engine bay to do this. We suggest using the passenger side firewall grommet. Make a small hole in the grommet with a razor blade just big enough to allow wires through the grommet. Once through the firewall run the white with stripe wiring to the passenger side plug and run the colored wiring to the driver side plug.
