Merge Services - 2004-2007 USDM STi
As of December 1st, we will only be taking on 25 more harness merges before we no longer offer this service.
Thank you for your interest in our wiring services! Our custom harness merges combine the power and features of your new engine and ECU with the factory amenities of your chassis. We strive to make a high-quality and reliable harness so you can enjoy driving the car and not worry about electrical gremlins.

Key Requirements for the Chassis
Chassis is one of the following
1993-2001 Impreza/OBS
1995-2004 Legacy
1995-2004 Outback
1998-2002 Forester
Chassis must be left-hand-drive
Dash is original to the chassis
The post-swap transmission needs to be a manual
We will do auto-to-manual conversions with the engine swap wiring
Key requirements for the Engine
Engine must be from an OBD2 model and NON-CANbus. They are the following
Engine MUST be the same year or newer than the chassis
Due to increased EPA enforcement, we no longer wire up an engine that is older than the chassis it is being installed in.

This Could be an Option For Your Project
If the basic setup matches your platform, you could use the long block and retain your original wiring with ECU. Please take a look at this post for more compatibility information.
Thank you again for your interest in using iWire.
This is a CANbus-equipped chassis which makes swapping difficult.
At this time, there are only two ways we would recommend moving forward. The first would be to take the entire harness from headlights to taillights of a similar year turbo version on your chassis (IE 08 WRX into 08 2.5i) and run a compatible engine for that platform. It would probably require a complete donor car to get all the parts you would need. The other would be to wire up a standalone ECU that can communicate with the CANbus system of the chassis and can run whichever engine you choose.
We know this sounds crazy, given we are the “Subaru Swap Guys,” but with the complexities of the project, we would suggest at least considering purchasing the turbo car you are looking to build instead of swapping.
Note: iWire is no longer wiring projects that utilize a standalone ECU.

We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you again for your interest in using iWire.
Yes! This is a swap that we support.
There are some differences between 2002-2005 WRX and newer drive-by-wire platforms. Please take a look at the 16bit vs. 32bit blog post for more information.
We're here to help but have a few steps before you send us any harnesses to ensure everything goes smoothly.
WHAT IS OUR MERGE PROCESS
Merge Service Labor Starts at $999
Turn Around Time – Approximately 6 weeks
- Identify what your engine came out of exactly
- Fill out the spec sheet so we can get all the details of the swap so an iWire representative can get in touch with you
- Send a picture of the new engine from the crank pulley side, top-down, and one from the driver’s side straight on.
- Pull the bulkhead harness from your car where the new engine is going into and send us a picture of the bulkhead harness
- Send a picture of the bulkhead and front harnesses along with the ECU and fuel pump controller (if applicable) that goes with the new engine
- Pull the bulkhead harness from your car where the new engine is going into and send us a picture.
What do I need to send?
The most common question asked is, what do I need to send? Unlike other car makers, Subaru integrates the wiring for the engine and ECU with the rest of the harness for the car's body. There is no plug that separates the ECU to engine wiring from everything else.
Bulkhead harness from the merged vehicle. The bulkhead harness is the part underneath the dash inside the cabin that runs along the firewall from door to door. It also includes the wiring that goes into the engine bay via the 2 grommets on the passenger’s side. The bulkhead harness will disconnect from the rear harness on the passenger’s side either at the front door (01 and older) or under the passenger’s side front seat (02+).

Benefits of buying our Project 2.0L Harness
- Don't have to pull the nightmare of the donor car
- Gut the front end of the car
- It's old, and the connectors are falling apart
- Saves around $100 in shipping
- Prewired for AVCS ($200 value)
- If reselling the donor, it will increase the value of having the harness still in.
Have us supply our brand new harness instead of using the old one and having to pay for shipping and worrying about something old and cracked.
